Our mission is built on two core commitments:
✅ Raising Awareness
We believe that you can't detect a symptom you don't know. That's why we canvass door-to-door sharing clear, accessible information the on signs, symptoms, and risk factors of colon and breast cancers. Most importantly we share resources for free or reduced cost screenings for those who are uninsured.
✅ Providing Support
We offer financial and in-kind assistance to individuals undergoing cancer treatment, helping cover essential non-medical needs like food, transportation, utilities, and scholarships for graduating high school seniors to cover mandatory graduation and activities fees. Because no one should have to choose between healing and survival.
The SisterHermana Foundation is proudly 100% volunteer-led and operated. Our volunteers are the heart of our mission, turning compassion into action every single day. Their dedication allows us to meet the diverse needs of those we serve and strengthen our community.
Whether they’re sharing life-saving information door-to-door, organizing toy and food drives, or offering hands-on support, their commitment embodies true service, solidarity, and care. With every act of kindness, they create genuine human connections that remind us all: no one fights alone.
Established in 2014, the SisterHermana Foundation, Inc. is a grassroots social impact organization founded by breast cancer survivor Veronica Glover. What began as women support service transformed forever on October 6, 2014—the day Veronica lost her husband of 27 years, Horace Glover, to colon cancer that might have been curable with early detection.
In the midst of deep grief, Veronica made a promise: to fight cancer not through research labs, but in the heart of our communities. She envisioned an organization that supports cancer warriors and their families with practical, meaningful, everyday help—care that is culturally sensitive, family-centered, and youth-inclusive. Above all, we are committed to standing with families in their most difficult moments, transforming compassion into action, and building a network of hope, help, and healing.
Cancer isn’t contagious, but its impact on families is profound. It disrupts daily routines, strains emotional well-being, affects relationships, and challenges a family’s ability to care for their loved one.
At the SisterHermana Foundation, we know cancer is more than a medical diagnosis—it’s a life-changing journey for the whole family. That’s why our support goes beyond healthcare, addressing the real, everyday challenges families face.
Our strength lies in our shared compassion and empathy. Many of us are survivors or caregivers ourselves. We understand there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. We’re here to listen, adapt, and provide the personalized help every family deserves.
We envision a caring community where no one facing cancer feels alone. Together, we provide hope, practical support, and the power of connection beyond hospital walls.
The Taking it to the Streets for Life Project delivers cancer prevention, early detection education, and support directly to neighborhoods in need. Through outreach, canvassing, health screenings, and events, we empower communities to take charge of their health and connect families to essential resources.
At the SisterHermana Foundation, we believe every life deserves to be honored—especially in the face of adversity. With generous support from the Omni Hotel of Jacksonville, we proudly hosted “A Night to Remember” for Raynard Wilson, a senior at A. Philip Randolph High School.
In 2021, Raynard, then 20 years old, was bravely battling Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer affecting bones and soft tissues. Like many students, he dreamed of experiencing prom—a milestone so many look forward to. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, that dream became reality.
SisterHermana Foundation founder Veronica Glover is honored as a Health Hero by Agape Family Health Center. This recognition celebrates her dedication to supporting families impacted by cancer through compassionate, culturally sensitive, and practical assistance.
