Advocacy

At the SisterHermana Foundation, we believe genuine health equity and community require civic participation. Our dedication to non-partisan voter registration is grounded in the principle that civic engagement is integral to both individual and community well-being.

The SisterHermana Foundation is strictly non-partisan. We do not endorse political parties, candidates, or specific political agendas. Instead, our mission focuses on empowering individuals, particularly underserved and vulnerable communities, with the tools, resources, and education they need to make their voices heard at the ballot box. We believe that participating in democracy is a civic right that transcends political lines, and every eligible citizen deserves unimpeded access to voter registration.

Elections have significant and direct consequences for community health outcomes, access to medical care, and health equity. Voting influences healthcare in several critical ways:

  • Elected officials make legislative decisions about healthcare expansion, Medicaid expansion, and clinic grants. Voter participation determines which leaders are entrusted with shaping these essential safety nets.
  • Disparities in healthcare access disproportionately affect marginalized populations. Voting lets communities choose representatives who prioritize reducing health disparities, lowering prescription drug costs, and expanding insurance coverage.
  • As an organization committed to cancer awareness, support services, and health advocacy, we recognize that preventative health policies rely substantially on government support. Civic engagement is essential to maintaining funding and prioritization for public health initiatives and educational programs.

  • Local and state officials regulate environmental health standards, hospital resources, and emergency services within communities. Participation in local elections provides residents with a direct influence on the well-being of their neighborhoods.

Registering to vote and participating in elections holds decision-makers accountable and supports healthier futures for families and communities.

You can submit a new registration or update your existing information online using the official Florida Online Voter Registration System.
