Pathway to Prevention
Cancer awareness belongs in everyday conversations throughout the year. Taking It to the Streets for Life brings cancer education to people where they live, work, worship, and gather. Through neighborhood canvassing, community events, resource tables, and partnerships, we share information about breast, colon, prostate, and other cancers. We host signature cancer awareness events, including the annual Pink & Pearls Brunch and Movement as Medicine workshops, which are now held quarterly.
Our outreach includes signs and symptoms information, screening directories, and resources for free or reduced-cost healthcare. We encourage people to recognize changes, ask questions, and connect with healthcare professionals. From a doorstep to a barbershop, from a church to a community gathering, every conversation is an opportunity to share information that someone may need.

Taking It to the Streets for Life meets people where they live, work, worship, and gather. Our trained volunteers and community health workers deliver life-saving cancer awareness directly to doorstep conversations, neighborhood events, faith groups, and local businesses.

Program Impact & Who We Serve Taking It to the Streets for Life focuses on medically underserved neighborhoods across Jacksonville and Duval County, where health disparities and late-stage cancer diagnosis rates are highest.
